How to get out of PDF/A mode?

Hello,

I recently received a document that was saved in PDF/A mode. Since I did not know what that was, I had to watch a video tutorial explaining what it was. I really like the idea of a method for long-term archival and support Adobe in this cause...

HOWEVER, I need to save it in the "regular" format please. I cannot find a way to do it.

Even when I don't save it but instead "print it" to PDF, the document still says it is a PDF/A.

What is the opposite of PDF/A? Please help. Thanks.
P.S. This is Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

Preflight (from the advanced menu) - Profiles - PDF/A Compliance - Remove PDF/A Information.

That'll save a copy without the header tag but with no other changes. To temporarily turn off PDF/A Mode (so you can make changes to the file that aren't usually permitted) use Preferences - Documents and set "view in PDF/A mode" to "never".

Change it back when you're done though, as it's important to keep it active to display genuine PDF/A files correctly.

Thanks! I used your 1st method.

I'd prefer not to use the 2nd method, because my philosophy is: if it's an archived document, it should be treated as such and not altered.

In my case, I did not want to alter the original archived document, but instead I wanted to extract a small excerpt from it, which could be altered. --- But any pages extracted while the document was in PDF/A mode also retained the PDF/A header tag, which I think is probably not keeping within the spirit of PDF/A. Having an archived document that you can just admire (but not do anything with) is not very useful.

In any case, thanks for the extremely fast reply.
