When you 'crop a PDF file using the Adobe Acrobat crop tool, it simply changes the sharpe of the window that Acrobat will use to display this file - as all the material is still there (in the case that you 'un-crop' the file - well, no, the file will not get smaller. This would be true for TrimBox and BleedBox as well.

lets say you have a PDF file of your dog standing in front of your house, but you want to crop everything away except for the dog.

you would need to eliminate the excess images area - you could do this using the Acrobat Touch Up tool, but it is a messy business to do so manually.

If you have a lot of these types of images, I would look into IoFlex.
