How to run Batch Processing via Hot Folder?

Hi there!

I work in a prepress section of an online printing company. "Online Printing Company" translates to hundreds of PDF files that need to be preflighted. Even with batch processing, this is quite a tedious and repetitive task. Is there a way to run a batch process using a hot folder?

Thanks in advance.

Batch sequences are intended to be run interactively in order to deter Acrobat from being used like a server application. A custom plug-in could be written to do this, or you might automate a with a custom VB application that could be scheduled.

Some 3rd party programs are meant to be automated, like SWITCH from www.gradual.com or PDF Enhancer from www.apago.com

Why would Adobe prevent users from using Acrobat in a server-like manner? It seems like it defeats the purpose of Batch Processing, which is to automate repetitive tasks.

Thanks for the suggestions . I hope I can find enough courage to finally try VB. =)

I'll check out the links too.

Not if you are also selling a server line of products. You may find some 3rd party products that can perform this task.
