Hyperlink does not open pdf

I have a database with hyperlinks in each record leading to documents. The hyperlinks open the documents if they are Word documents, but not if they are pdf's. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0. Do I need to install something, or change some settings, to make the pdf's open when using the hyperlinks? Thanks for your help.

can i know how you are trying to open the file? from an html file or how?

Thanks for the reply. The moderator had replied that there was an issue with A7 and hyperlinks, and to update to at least 7.0.5 or greater.
I did this, and it fixed the problem. Recently the IT Dept. rebuilt my computer from scratch, installing a new operating system and all software. When I reinstalled the Adobe Acrobat Pro I forgot to install the updates. I mention this in case anyone else has the same situation, where everything used to work; but after reinstalling the software you might have to reconfigure some settings or download and install some updates in order for the software to work as it did before.
