Problem
Hyperlinks do not work when I click on them.

Solution
If your hyperlinks do not work try the following troubleshooting tips:
1) Check to make sure the following Preference is selected: Edit --> Preferences --> General category "Create links from URLs"
You can manually add links to URLs (Acrobat 8/9) using the following command, Advanced --> Document Processing --> Create Links to URLs
2) Check to make sure the syntax of the hyperlink is correct. Select the Link tool in Acrobat, then select the link, right click (Windows), and open the link Properties. Make sure the syntax of the link does not contain commas, spaces, or periods or you may encounter some of the known issues outlined below.
If your hypertext links from MSWord are not working and the syntax of the path is absolute not relative (which is a problem if you move the files) try turning off the following option in MSWord. "Update automatic links at open" in the General tab of the Options menu. This causes Word to add the document's current path to all relative links when you open the document, which may break your relative links.
3) Make sure you have all the latest updates for both Acrobat "and" Office.

Known Issues:
1) Error: "The page cannot be found" in Internet Explorer when you click an Acrobat web link that contains a comma or space (Acrobat 6.x and earlier) For more information visit the following URLs:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=327464
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=326072
2) Hyperlinks in PDF files show as {hyperlink"http://www.adobe.com"} when converting documents from Word (Acrobat 6 and 7 on Windows). In Microsoft Word Choose - Tools > Options > Print > and deselect the Field Codes option.
3) Periods in e-mail address do not convert correctly when automatically added in Acrobat (7.x and 3D). For more information visit the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=333155
4) Hyperlinks from MSOffice documents (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to a PDF do not work (Acrobat 7.0, Adobe Reader 7.0 on Windows). Install the latest version of Acrobat 7.0.9. Acrobat 7.0 and Adobe Reader 7.0 search only web servers for PDF files that are linked to Office documents via hyperlinks. Acrobat 7.0.5 and Adobe Reader 7.0.5 search web servers, local drives, and shared drives for linked PDF files.
5) When you click a web link in a PDF file, the web browser returns the error "This page cannot be displayed." The link was created with either the Open A Web Page option (Adobe Acrobat 6.x) or the World Wide Web Link action (Acrobat 5.x). For more information visit the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=325158
6) Clicking a web link to a PDF file causes Internet Explorer to open a new window and Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to start and then quit immediately. The new browser window also closes. The "Display PDF In Browser" is deselected in the Internet preferences in Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
7) First page is always shown when you use an HTML hyperlink to open a PDF file to specific page (Acrobat 7.x, Acrobat 3D). In Acrobat 7.0, the integration path between Microsoft Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat products was changed. Unfortunately, those changes affected how Microsoft Internet Explorer sends string information to the Acrobat browser plug-in specifically when using server or local file URLs. For more information visit the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=326332
8) Cross-document link incorrectly opens the first page of a PDF file (Acrobat 6.0, Adobe Reader 6.0 and earlier on Windows) For more information visit the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=325952
9) Links from an HTML page to a specific page in PDF file do not work (Acrobat 7.x, Acrobat 3D). Update to the latest version of Acrobat 7.0.9.
10) URLs in static text of LiveCycle Designer PDF files do not hyperlink properly (Acrobat 7, LiveCycle Designer 7). For more information visit the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=325699

Problem: Variant on the hyperlink issue. Most of my hyperlinks DO work, but some of them don't. I've noticed that the ones that DON'T work are related to a heading level 3 or lower, but links related to heading levels 2 and higher work just fine. Could this be an issue with a corrupted heading styles?
