When I create a document in MS Word and use the PDF builder to create a PDF that has hyperlinks imbedded, I would like to open the link in a new window so that when it is closed the original document is still open. Can this be done?

Thanks

Sure.

Follow these steps:

1. Draw the link on the page.

2. In the Create Link dialog, click Custom link, then click Next.

3. Click the Actions tab, and choose Open a file from the Select Action dropdown list; click Add.

4. Locate the file you want to use for the link's destination and click Select.

5. In the Specify Open Preference dialog, choose New window and click OK.

6. You see the action is listed in the Link Properties; click OK to close the dialog.

7. Test your link.

That's great, as far as it goes - but if I want a link to not only open a document in a new window, but open it at a particular page or destination?

Hi --

Same thing applies. You are still setting a link, but instead of specifying the simple opening of a page, try using a destination.

There is a posting on my blog that describes how to set up and use destinations. Find it at www.acrofacts.donnabaker.ca.
