Hyperlinks not working

Hi all, I have just started using Acrobat 9 Pro as a free trial but the hyperlinks do not work on creating a pdf from a .doc file (MS Word) or a htm file. I have already searched to find the answer and it seems to be a common problem with the program. I have just checked this topic:

http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?id=4419

but did not get the info I need to solve this.

The hyperlink is on my pdf document but when clicked, the pop up box appears asking me to allow it to connect to a web site and I click 'allow'.....then nothing happens. I have gone into tools > advanced etc and checked the link properties and it is selected as 'open a web link' but it still doesnt work.

I have written the address correctly ie. http://www.awebsite.com/

any ideas?

Do you have other versions of Acrobat installed on your system? If so, this may be causing a conflict with the PDFMaker macro in Word?

This is the only Acrobat I have. I do have acrobat reader 7 but this does not activate since I have been on the free trial of Acrobat 9 Pro. The odd thing is, after about 3 days, the hyperlinks started working so I am puzzled. It makes me lose a little bit of confidence in the software as I am making an Ebook with it and do not want customers who buy the Ebook to face problems with links.

Actually there may be a conflict with Reader 7 and Acrobat 9 but first check under Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager and check the setting under Internet Access ...Are you selecting these hyperlinks in a standalone version of Acrobat or from within the browser?
