Hi, lately I have the following problem:
whenever I want to view a pdf file, the images appear solid grey. I have not changed any settings and unfortunately I don't know either when it started happening (but it has been a few weeks ago)
 
Can anybody tell me what is wrong?

Do you have the following Preference turned on in Acrobat? Edit > Preferences > Page Display "Show large images"?

No, I didn't, but when I turned the option on, the grey disappeared and the text appeared. Thank you! That worked great. Now I'll be able to read the PDFs :)

P.S. where can I find information for those settings and what their purpose are?
(while writing this p.s., I had an epiphany and found the following:

Right-click the document, and choose Page Display Preferences.
Select Show Large Images.
If you deselect the option above, Reader displays large image files as gray boxes, speeding up display and scrolling.)
