Use the 'Create PDF from Multiple' option - it's much more robust. Also, you can open multiple documents at the same time and even drag/drop across between documents. Control/drag will duplicate a page and the same command across multiple documents will cut/paste ..

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

Thanks for your reply, it's exactly the kind of answer i was looking for. I was unaware of that feature.
I mistakenly rated the reply 4 stars and meant to do 5.
I have found another quirky solution to my problem: when i go to document>insert pages, I click on the "view menu" button>details, and then, in the details view, I flip the alphabetical order (to Z-A AND i click selection1-shift-click selectionN to select documents to include, starting from the BOTTOM. this works, though you have to take both steps (1-flip the order, and 2-select from the bottom up...i.e., the alphabetical top) of the list; but your solution looks more robust

I've been looking for a solution for this issue for TWO YEARS!
I updated Acrobat on an old computer, and it mysteriously remedied itself. Unfortunately, when I installed Acrobat on a new computer, the issue showed itself again.

I was having to import the pages, export them and re-import them. (Since it imported the pages backwards, it corrected the order when I re-imported)

SUCH A PAIN! Thanks again!

would reinstalling acrobat standard 8 fix this problem for me? I frequently (every day) have to build VERY LARGE documents by dragging numerous files from both PDFs and Windows Explorer into the PDF i am building... i can not use the reverse pages script because i do not want the WHOLE document reversed... i just need the 100 pages i just dragged in to be reversed... it doesnt' seem to matter what order i select the files in windows explorer -- they ALWAYS wind up reversed. (I'm blown away that a piece of software who's legacy is all about building documents,in it's eight incarnation, would even have a problem like this)... and it make no sense to manually drag each an ever individual page into the right order...

what's the REAL solution?

I can not be building 1200 page PDF's this way...

Help.

Etyrnal: per my posting from 9/21/2007:

if you're inserting documents from Windows Explorer,
1-go to document>insert pages (or something similar, depending on version)
2-click on the "view menu" and select the "details" view of the documents in the folder
3-in the details view, click twice on the header for the name of document so that they list in alphabetical order and then reverse alphabetical (to Z-A)
4-select the documents you want to insert into your document by starting with the bottom document (towards the A's), then shift-select the other end of the range of documents (towards the Z's)
5-select "insert"
