Insert Pages Error

I am using Acrobat 7 Pro. Whenever I try to Insert Pages... I get File Error Has Occurred.

At first I thought it might be because I am trying to insert pages that are a different size (can I do this?) but then I tested and it seems to apply to all my files, no matter the size.

Any ideas on troubleshooting this?

Are you inserting PDF files when you get this error or other native files such as Word or Excel? If you're inserting Word files then you'll need to convert the file to PDF first.
If you're inserting PDFs then it's possible that the files have security set on them to prevent this behavior. To check the security level, open the PDF and press Ctrl + d (Windows).

Also, you can insert pages that are different sizes but they'll need to be converted to PDF first.

I know this is an old topic, but I am having an Insert Pages error on using Acrobat 9 with Windows 7. When I go to "Insert Pages" and I click "From File," Acrobat shuts down. The PDF file I'm trying to add pages to was created with Acrobat 9, not an earlier or later version of Acrobat.

Are you running Acrobat 9.2 or later?

Using Acrobat 9.0 -- would upgrading resolve the problem? FWIW, it worked just fine about three weeks ago. Thanks.

Yes, upgrading might help as Acrobat 9.2 was the first version to officially support Windows 7.

Thank you, I will try that, although as I noted previously, the problem only just recently started (about three weeks ago), so it had been working with Windows 7 for the entire time prior.

Thanks, I'm not the OP who had problems with Acrobat 7. I am a different poster, who is using Acrobat 9.0 Pro, and I'm having the issues I noted, on a computer using Windows 7 which up to three weeks ago, did not have this problem.

I am sorry about that. I now use Acrobat 9.0, for some reasons, I still don't upgrade my Acrobat to the latest version. Generally speaking, advanced version would be downward compatible. So I think it has nothing with your Acrobat. There are many possible causes about that. Try to check out the properties to make sure the file you want to insert is not protected with password. maybe you need to uninstall and then fully install the version 9.0, that would be complicated I think.
