Is it possible to link to an attachment inside a PDF

I'm using Acrobat Standard 8 - - I have created a PDF and I have attached an Excel document as an attachment to the PDF.

What I want to do is create a link in the PDF that opens the Excel document that is attached to the PDF (rather than putting the Excel document in a separate file).

Is it possible to create a link to documents within the pdf (attached to the pdf)?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.0, Windows

This may not be to your linking - but In Adobe Acrobat 9 I can do this using PDF Portfolios -

I have an example named

XML_FAX_in_PDF_Portfolio.pdf

--- this is located here

ftp://Scans:G4-Tiff [at] ftp [dot] ioflex [dot] com/pdf_healthcare/XML_FAX_in_PDF_Portfolio.pdf-- This is a PDF Portfolio file. This particular portfolio file contains two files
-- one that is an XML file "Emergency Info Sample.xml" that is not PDF file,
-- and a 2 page FAX of the file "v15EIF_filled_print2pdf.pdf"

A PDF Portfolio contains multiple files assembled into an integrated PDF unit. They can be opened and viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The files inside a PDF Portfolio can be in different formats and created in different applications.

For example, suppose you have a project that includes text documents of clinical summaries, email messages from a patient, a scan of a FAX, an excel or word file - even an XML file (SNOMED, DICOM, HL7 CCR) from ANY EMR system.

You could combine all of these documents into a PDF Portfolio. The original files retain their individual identities but are assembled into one PDF Portfolio file. Users can open, read, edit, and format each component file independently of the other component files in the PDF Portfolio. PDF Porfolio file emanble reliable secure exchange of data that has no method of simple exchange or level of security.

experiment with the tool "attach a file as a comment" (comment & markup submenu on tools menu). the icon choices are limited and they cant be resized, but you can adjust the icon's opacity to zero (appearance tab). You can supply a tool tip (general tab): in author field type something like "click here to open attachment".
