linking to attachments

I am using Acrobat 8 Professional and I have a document that has several attachments that I want to link to. I created the links in my parent document, but each time you click on a link it opens the attachment in the same window thus closing the parent document. Is there a way to make the attachments open in a new window after clicking on the hyperlink in the parent document?
