Lost Toolbar

I hid the toolbar while reading a document and now cannot get it to come back unless I press F8 everytime I open a pdf. How can I get it to permanently display automatically? I read on the help menu to press F9. Tried that -- didn't work.

Thanks

By any chance, do you have your General Preferences set to "Restore last view settings when reopening documents"?

Don't think so, but I haven't been able to find where that check box is.

You need to go the menu bar and select "Edit => Preferences" than look in the "Documnents" category.

No, it's unchecked. BTW, thanks for trying to help.

That gave me an idea. I restored the toolbar and CHECKED that, closed the pdf, reopened it and it worked . . . but only for that particular pdf.

You should also check the PDFs to make sure the author of the PDF did not set the initial view to hide the toolbar ("File => Properties => Initial View"). It is possible that an author used JS to hide the toolbar, a very bad practice since it might change your preferences.

Checked that on a couple and no, that is not the case. Anyway this problem applies to all of my pdf's regardless of author.
