Mailto link does not work

I created a Contact Us link in a PDF. The link is set to Open a Web Link. The path is:

mailto:karen [dot] mibus [at] ceridian [dot] com

However, when posted on our SharePoint site (in a library, not in a Web Part), the link does not work. We use Outlook 2003 SP2.

The same link does not work when viewed from my local drive.

According to Adobe Acrobat's Help file, one can use mailto with the Open a Web Link setting.

I searched the Adobe site for a reported issue, but did not find any. Have others encountered this problem?

Is there another way to create a mailto link within a PDF file?

Are you able launch your email application when you select the "Attach this PDF to a new email button"? If not, perhaps Outlook is setup by default to disallow launching from other applications. I would check with your administrator to see if this is the case.
