Making attachments open in a new window

I have a report that is the main document and want users to be able to click on links within it to open up addl files.

I've gotten the files attached, and the attachments to open using the Create link --> go to page view menu command. However, once the attachment is open the report is closed out. How can I make it so the attachment opens in a new window?

I tried to attach them using Create link --> Open a file but the link to the file didn't transfer with the report. Perhaps I am doing something incorrect here.

I would create a portfolio, but we don't want these files to have the same "weight" so to speak as the main report. They are supporting documentation.
