Multiple page selection unavailable in page navigation panel

Yesterday I allowed an update of my Acrobat Pro to version 9.4.5. Ever since this update I am unable to select more than one page thumbnail in the page navigation panel using the Shift key or control key. I cannot find the source of this and would appreciate any help.

PS: the "version" for the Acrobat Pro 9 series in "Tell us about your software" when posting on the forum stops at 9.4.3, but the latest available is 9.4.5.

It's a bug, sorry. It will be rectified as soon as possible via the automatic updates system, but we can't confirm the exact time.

If you are like my company and shift-click is a vital part of your daily routine, you can uninstall Acrobat and reinstall an earlier version. We've had to remove every Acrobat installation in our office and reinstalled with the original DVD, then obviously didn't let it update. It's been a major hassle but the security risks are worth it to our organization until this is resolved, and unfortunately it's the only work-around we've found to this major bug.

You can select multiple thumnails using the mouse and draging a marque over the thumbnails as a workaround until they fix it.

Tried the drag marque over thumbnails ... works great for page thumbnails adjacent to one another (vertically adjacent, horizontally adjacent, or both vertically and horizontally adjacent). Thank you!!

As stated above, that only works for adjacent pages, which isn't enough for us. Reinstalling an earlier, less secure version has been the only work-around for our organization.

This bug was introduced in the latest version (9.4.5), so you can update to 9.4.4, if you wish.

In my case I would be downgrading to 9.4.4. Is that permitted by the system, to "upgrade" from 9.4.5 to 9.4.4?

I was referring to treyhj's comments about having to reinstall version 9 from a DVD.
I don't think it's possible to downgrade to 9.4.4, but a system restore might do it.

I was glad to find this thread on the one hand because I thought I had gone crazy - or terribly uncoordinated. However, this is terribly inconvenient as has been expressed above by others. Not to get too philosophical on a Sunday afternoon, but I believe this is the type of problem that permeates so many software companies (though I love and own stock in Adobe). In short, they spend much too much time on the more esoteric additions that are used (understood) by a fraction of the users when the vast majority of users actually DO need to select multiple pages. Please fix, Adobe.

I fully agree with your statement. This feature allows to quickly compile new pdf documents from other documents, and this is the fundamental incremental functionality of Professional over Reader. This bug is so inconvenient that it makes the current release useless. Really, Adobe, you need to fix this urgently.

As another somewhat satisfactory measure, you can extract a range of pages by selecting the first page in the range, then "Extract pages" and then specify the end page in the page range dialog.

I discovered this problemed recently while using version 9 and also thought I was crazy. Is there any ETA on the fix since the workaround does not work well for noncontiguous pages?

Any update on this? Incredibly inconvenient. I've been working on massive documents and not being able to delete pages that are not next to each other has been time consuming.

Acrobat 9.4.6 allows you to delete non-contiguous pages from the Page Navigation panel using the Delete Pages command.

Also, I noticed in 9.4.6 that you are able to extract non-contiguous pages (on Windows) if you simply select the pages in the Page Navigation panel and then drag them out of Acrobat into Windows Explorer. Only the exact pages are extracted not the entire range (which still appears to be a bug).

Thank you for the update. I should have posted that when I discovered it a couple of weeks ago, but I did not know about extracting non-contiguous pages to Windows Explorer.
