Hi, I am creating help documents in MS Word 2007 then saving them as a pdf. The documents contain a table of contents with hyperlinks to section within the document. I am also looking to have the pdf open to a particular section on a webpage. I am updating the oracle DB table to reference the correct webpage to open the correct document. How do I get named destinations setup to open the document to the correct section? Do I need the full version of Acrobat? Standard or Professional? Will that do it? In the past, I think Acrobat was used with a plugin called destinations (not adobe). This was a few years ago and I am trying to figure out what is needed and if the technology has changed.
View > Navigation Panels > Destinations.
If not present then you will need Acrobat 9 Pro or Pro Extended.
With the Destination panel available you can use the Select tool to highlight a portion of PDF page content.
Then create a new destination.
You can use the Named Destination for several things such as the target for the action of a Bookmark
or in a full URL (as described in Adobe's PDF Open Parameters document).
It is likely a plug-in for establishing/working Named Destinations is still available and works with Acrobat 9.
Often, such plug-ins make it easier to do something you can do yourself (but with more effort).
So, you might want to do a search on the topic.
