I went to Document = Recogniye Using OCR, Adobe ran the analysis and the task and that was it … I used to work with ABBYY FineReader and I immediately got a .doc version of the recognized text. But there is no such thing in Adobe … So what are the next steps after having performed OCR? There is no mention about the final .doc in the Help files :-/. Thanks!

After you run OCR (I'm assuming you are on Acrobat X, version 10.1.1), you want to see the OCR Suspects, once you turn this on, it stays on.

1. Click Tools on the right
2. Expand Recognize Text
3. Click Find All Suspects
4. To approve & edit the Suspects, click Find First Suspect

Once finished, if you need this to be a Word doc, choose File > Save As > Microsoft Word

Sorry, just noticed you said Document, that means you are on Acrobat 9 or older:

1. Go to Document > Recognize Text Using OCR > Find All Suspects. All suspect words on the page are enclosed in boxes. Click any suspect word to show the suspect text in the Find Element dialog box.
2. Then use Find First Suspect.

File Save As should still work to save in a variety of formats. Select your desired format at the bottom of the Save As dialog.
