OCR'ing document with perpendicular text

I'm using Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended to OCR building plans that have text running in different directions, perpendicular to one another. I'm having multiple problems:

1. When I OCR individual sheets, Acrobat rotates them, but not all the same. Some end up in portrait orientation, some in landscape (the way I prefer them). I've tried rotating them myself, then running the OCR, but that seems to make no difference in the result. Is there a way to instruct Acrobat to rotate in a particular way or not to rotate at all?

2. Acrobat apparently OCRs only text that runs horizontally, so what text gets OCR'd depends on how Acrobat has rotated the document. Is it possible to OCR text irunning n multiple directions? If so, how? If not, I would like to OCR the text that's horizontal when the plans are in a landscape orientation. How can I do that?

Thanks for whatever help anyone can give.

Same problem here -- how is this controlled? Specifying 'Searchable image (exact)' under Document | OCR Text Recognition | Recognize Text Using OCR | Settings | Edit doesn't hold the orientation as I thought it might. The output image is still rotated 180 degrees, so that it's upside down portrait.

Note: same page OCRed in ABBYY Finereader 9 does not rotate -- orientation remains portrait straight-up, not upside-down rotated 180 degrees.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
