I would like to open a file stored on the local machine via a web brower to a particular named destination. I looked at the PDF Open Parms and thought the following command would work:

file:///C:/AccountingManual1.pdf#nameddest=funds

It sometimes works, but most times it just opens the PDF. Does any one have any suggestions on how to accomplish this.

Thanks

An Adobe TechNote (ID: 31700) may be useful.
This TechNote was last update 6/19/08.
While it is associated with Acrobat 7.x, Acrobat 3D, I suspect the information is pertinent to Acrobat 8 as well.

Of particular interest:

Quote:
If you use URLS containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), then you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations. With Adobe Acrobat 7.0 products, a link to a page number only works if you use HTTP or HTTPS locations.

I downloaded the latest version of the reader (9.0) and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your help again.
