opening 6.0 doc in 8.1

I created a document in acrobat 6.0 and sent it to a client. They have 8.1 and can't open the document. Other clients can open it with 6.0. Why can't my client with 8.1?

This might not be an Acrobat issue but an email encoding problem?

As a test, why not ZIP the PDF and then ask them to open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat?
