Page-Level Categories for Large PDF documents

I am seeking a software program to help me in reading large .pdf documents.

In my work it would be very helpful for me to be able to read through a large document and assign one or more categories to each page, then be able to sort this so that I can look at all the pages under any given tag.

So for example I might mark each page as "Client A" or "Client B" or "Client C" as well as "Urgent" or "Long-term" and then be able to sort the pages by any of these categories.

Does such a software application exist?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 10.1, Windows

you need only the application that you have -- AA-10. you can use the stamp tool for basic tags, such as 'urgent'. you could create a library of custom text boxes each having content relevant to 'client' and 'topic', etc. the library of text boxes would be stored in a stand-alone pdf file (one or more pages, one or more text boxes on a page). you simply copy a text box from the library and paste it to a page in your large pdf document. you can create text boxes as needed and store them in the library pdf. as to searching the large pdf for the content contained in stamps and text boxes placed therein, you would use find tool or the search tool. you might also create a catalog index for one or more large pdfs. you would search the index. the topic of a creating and using a catalog is too complex for the space available here. see Acrobat's Help menu.

Very resourceful solution - thanks. I think that would work well a few times but would be cumbersome routinely... perhaps what I need is a custom script.
