Does anyone know if there's an adobe product that takes a pdf and simulates the ability to turn the pages like a book. I'm trying to do some research to see what software I need.

Thanks.

It's important to remember that the "page curl" effect can't be applied to a PDF document per se, as Reader's rendering engine can't display a page any other way than flat. The various methods available to convert a PDF into a page-turn simulation all convert the PDF pages into either Flash SWF objects or graphic (bitmap) images, then load them into a Flash-based framework to provide the interactivity and the visual shadow/fold effect. This is why, for example, Indesign can export a document with interactive page curls but only in SWF format. You can embed that SWF into a PDF, but it's not the same as making the PDF do the curl. For example, the PDF will only have one page (containing the entire book) and all the normal Acrobat navigation tools will be redundant.

Because several of the web-based services start with PDF source documents, many people assume that page curl is "a PDF thing", and spend time hunting for some mysterious Acrobat setting to achieve it. It's also important to consider the drawbacks - by making the document fun to play with you lose the native functionality of a multi-page PDF file along the way.
