Paste in Place?

Hi,

Just wondering if 'paste in place' was an option in Acrobat Professional 8. I want to keep all my text forms consistently leveled and I figured this would be the best way to do so. When I copy and paste one of my text forms, it pastes itself in the middle of the page and then I have to drag it with my mouse to try and line it up exactly with the others. Anyone know a solution to this?

Thanks!
J

Hi --

There isn't a paste in place feature. By default, the new content is pasted to the center of the page.

Like dbaker said there isn't a way to paste in place. However the method I use to get form fields consistently aligned is guides. First you have to view rulers (Ctrl + R) then you can drag guides from the rulers just like in InDesign and many other adobe applications. Hope this helps.

There are several possibilities to achieve the "paste in place" effect.

a) instead of placing fields on a new base document, you replace the page, and you have achieved it.

b) the relative position of a group of pasted fields remains the same. So, you create an auxiliary field of the size of the page, and copy it with the fields you want to paste in place. When pasted, remove the auxiliary field.

You can use the Duplicate command. It will create an exact copy of the selected field on one or more pages.

Since pasted objects by default are pasted into the center of the page, one can work around the problem by copying a group of objects whose "center" is where you want it to be. That is, if you want to paste an object that is currently 2.25" to the right and 1.375" down from the center of the page, create two tiny objects (like single white periods) in opposite corners of the page. Then select those two objects along with the original item you'd like to paste, copy all three to the Clipboard, then paste onto your destination page. You can delete the two tiny objects if you want or leave them in the corners. Of course, for this to work the original and destination pages need to be the same size.
