I have 'file downloads' disabled in IE. I am able to download/view PDFs with Reader 6.0, but can't with 7.0 or 8.0 becuase Windows says 'my current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded'. Anyone know how I can get around this? I'd like to keep 'file downloads' disabled. Thanks

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 7.0.0, Windows

You must designate which application opens a PDF (Acrobat or Reader).

In the Windows OS, review the list of applications associated with various file extensions and change the .PDF association from Reader to Acrobat.

You can only do this if you are the System Administrator.

This will actually occur with only Reader. With Reader 6.0 it works fine, and then when I uninstall that and install Reader 7.0 or 8.0 I can't download from IE.

On a side troubleshooting note, I left Reader 6.0 and installed Acrobat 7.0. I changed the file associations, but Acrobat still tried to initiate the download from IE.

I haven't had any luck with Adobe. They said it's a security issue they fixed, but I'd just like to go around that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
