pdf file weight shrinking

hi,
i'm preparing a book of drawings,
i used indesign cs5 to create 8 pdf files, each one containing 50 scanned drawings. each pdf was about 2,8 gb (no compression at all).
i created, with indesign, the blank pages facing each drawing. this pages only containing the page number. also here the whole was divided in 8 pdf files, 36 kb each
then i started inserting the blank pages in the pdfs containing the drawings, aternating. i used acrobat 8.0.0 professional.
when i finished i saved, but to my great surprise the wheight of 3 out of the 8 pdf "shrank" to about 218 mb.
the immages quality doesn't seem affected, but still i don't understand. i'm worried about the possible printing results...
anyone has a clue?!
thank you!
ciao

hi,
i just wanted to give some more infos.
i just had a preflight on the different pdf documents.
those whose weight has lowered show, for every image, the following infos:
-Compression/Encoding
-zip/Flate compression (FlateDecode)

all other info for the immages are similar, low weight or big one.
(res x & y: 3000000/10000)ok, i can assure that i didn't ever try to compress the docs. so why it happened with some and not with others? (they come from the same source. a unique indesign cs5 doc.) will this compression affect my prints?

don't know if im posting something banal, but... i don't have a clue!
thank's!
ciao!
