Is this PDF too large and is that why it won't send?

Hello,
I have an 18 page full color dcoument that is taking forever to
attatch to my email (or it just won't let me send)
There is no message that says it can't send, but it indefinately says
it is still working to send.

It is 44.7MB which sounds very large, and i was wondering if that is
normal for a full color document of this size?

If not, what should I do?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Macintosh

Your email service maybe refusing to send such a large attachment. You should also consider that the receiver's email server may not accept such a large email.

PDF size is flexible much like image files, TIFF vs JPEG. What settings did you use to create the PDF? Look at the Optimizer tool to analyze the PDF content for large objects that could be compressed or identify other adjustments that could be made to reduce the size of the PDF.

I just saved it in acrobat as is.. is there a proper way to reduce the size without ahving to recreate the objects in the document?

In this case, If I don't have an FTP server, I doubt anyone else does.
I just use regular email. (yahoo, gmail, etc.)

Did you try Document > Reduce File Size? That's done wonders for me before.

Hi --

That file size is fairly large, but possible.

Have you tried File > Save As? The simplest thing to do, and often makes a huge decrease in file size. What are the source files? You might want to take a look at them; maybe decrease sizes, resolution, flatten layers, etc.

Thank you.. I have tried those methods, 'file--> 'save as' and 'decrease document size'... Usually decreasing document size only knocks it down 10MB or so.But then I started wondering...

When I export to PDF (or import, depending on which program I have open) I choose not to "include layers", etc.,

But the Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign file was not yet saved with flattened layers.

So what I'd really like to know is,
how can it export or import to PDF "without layers" if I did not tell it
which layers to include and which to leave out?

Is this Creative Suites way of telling me that it is flattening the layer for me as it exports to PDF?

thank you.
