Pop up message with adobe reader link

Could someone point me to instructions on how to have a pop-up dialog box that informs the user that they should be using adobe reader, if they are using another platform to fill out a form. For instance, I have a few users that try to submit forms using mac's preview, which doesn't support that feature.

George (gkaiseril) discussed a pop-up window upon opening a PDF and Marcus (radzamar) discussed opening a URL from a popup menu.
