I'm thinking about purchasing Acrobat X Pro. Before I buy, I need to know if those I send a pdf portfolio to will be able to see the portfolio exactly or very similar to how I see it if they only have Acrobat Reader. Can someone please help?

PDF Portfolios created in Acrobat X can be opened by Acrobat and Adobe Reader 9.4.2 and later, but their layout cannot be edited in Acrobat 9.4.2 - only the basic add/remove files options are available.
Acrobat X can open PDF Portfolios created in Acrobat 9, and can add/remove files, however if you wish to perform changes to the style or layout, Acrobat X will insist on updating the file to the Acrobat X version level, from which of course you cannot go back down to v9.
