Prevent user from saving

Hi,

I am creating several forms in Adobe Professional for users to fill out and print. I have been given instruction that users should only be allowed to print the pdf form and not be able to save it on their computer so that there is no chance they can alter the form. Is there a security setting for this?

Any help would be great,
J

Hi --

Yes, you certainly can define what the viewer can do. Add a password. Choose File > Properties > Security. Follow the dialog instructions to specify the passwords, and define the permissions (what the user can do).donna.

With all do respect Donna, I have yet been able to find anyone with the proper advice in preventing users from saving a pdf. By simply adding a password and defining permission accessibilities is NOT ENOUGH. The pdf can still by saved by the user.

I, too, am trying to prevent users from 1) saving the pdf, and 2) forwarding it as an email attachment. Is there any way to do this?

Regardless of what the security settings are with a password, the user can save a copy of the file. The initial question was regarding prevention of the user saving and changing the contents.

In answer to your question -- the only way to control access to the file as well as control what the user does with the file is to host it on a server. You can read about Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server at http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/
