Problem moving pages

Using Acrobat X Pro on Windows XP SP3 with .5 Gb memory. When attempting to move a page from one location to another the page goes to another location. For example if page 17 is drag and dropped to after page 2, it will show up after page 10 or some other unpredictable location. Moreover the same behavior happens when attempting to insert a file after page 2. PDF Optimizer has been used on the 600 page document.

I'm a newbie, please request further info if needed.

Are you sure the blue highlight is in the proper place when you are dragging & dropping the pages? Have you tried using Tools > Pages > Extract pages, then using Insert from File?

You said you have tried inserting a file after page 2. If so, you should submit a bug report (provided you have updated to Acrobat Pro 10.1.1)

On a side note, you have 500 K of memory? While that will "technically" work, I highly recommend you get to 1 or 2 GB (at least). RAM is pretty cheap today, and it will make a WORLD of difference (in general, not related to this issue).

Here is some further information on this problem. The problem seems to be with the document. It was cobbled together from several files, has links/buttons that use javascript. I looked at the document with Canon's eCopy and when I moved the second page to after page 3, it became page 11 even though it was positioned between pages 3 and 4. This is consistent with the behavior with Acrobat X except Acrobat places the page in position 11. Why would a page positioned at page 3 all of a sudden become page 11? Further, in Acrobat I tried splitting the document into 2 page pieces. It errored out after page 164. When I removed the next couple pages the split went on to page 200+ and errored out again. Also the sanitize document errored out before finishing.

My current question is this: Is there some way to look at page properties on some Acrobat report? Any other insight/suggestion would be welcome for locating faulty pages.

Havenwood,

Since you are running Acrobat Professional, I would recommend you try a few of the Preflight checks. View > Tools > Print Production > Preflight. Check PDF Analysis > Report PDF syntax issues.

Turns out the PDF document was corrupt or unstable. Thanks for the reponses.
