Problem saving pdf file

I tried to save a pdf file from an online site but at the top left there is only the Print and Email icons, no "Save As" link. When I try to save the file by clicking on the Print Icon, and using the "Adobe PDF" printer, it starts to work but then it fails with the message:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

However on some other pdf files accessed online this method does work to save a copy of the file.

The error message mentions "redistilling" so I presume what is happening is that the pdf is being back-converted to a ps file than Distiller is attempting to recreate the original pdf. But this is not what I want. I just want a copy of the accessed file.

The file's properties say printing is allowed so why does this not "print to file"?

What is going on here? If the file displays on screen surely I should be able to do a "Save" of the file to my computer.

Using Pro 9.4.4 (Only option to say 9.4.3 on the list)

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.4.3, Windows

Kerry007, this appears to be consistent behavior. I created a test PDF with security. In my first test I did not allow any changes, nor did I allow printing. When I tried to select 'Print', it was greyed out. In my second test I did not allow any changes, but I *did* allow printing. I was able to select 'Print', but I also received the same error when actually letting the print process run - and it did not create a new PDF. Finally, I selected my file from the desktop, copied it, and pasted it - this worked, but when opening the copied file, it inherited the same encryption properties my original second test file had.

What I think is happening here is that Acrobat is trying to prevent users from creating a 'flattened' new PDF file by simply printing to PDF since the original document's author obviously wanted it secured for some reason. This prevents users from making a flattened copy and then putting together some sort of edited version. I don't believe that you're going to find a way around this, unfortunately.

I am facing the same problem after updating to acrobat pro 9.4.4.
I had faced same situation earlier (about 9 months ago). There was a solution involving "preferences" that had worked.
I did not save that information and now I am desperately looking for solution.
I do know that there is a fairly straight forward and rather simple tweaking in the "preferences".
Please help!
