I recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro and several times I have had email recipients tell me that they can't open a PDF I have sent them. Has anyone else had this problems or can someone tell me a possible reason for this/ Thanks!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Hello,
I recently updated to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have the exact same problem. Some error messages seem to say the file is corrupted. I set the Doc properties so that it opens with either Acrobat 3 or Acrobat 5, but it doesn't make any difference... the recipients must upgrade their reader to minimum version Acrobat 8 to be able to open my files.
Help, too !
Thanks

My problem is almost the same:
Acrobat v9 is on my laptop, but v6 is on the old desktop with printer. I cannot upgrade the desktop because the OS is W98SE, and .pdf files from v9 freeze the whole system.
Does anybody know a fix or a workaround?

FYI Found an older version of an open-source software reader (FOXIT v2.2), installed it on the W98SE, and now I take a couple extra steps in order to print.
Hope this helps.

Since you have the Pro. version, try running the Preflight tool (under the Advanced menu) to check for file compatibility. There are specific preflight profiles you can run that will verify if the file is compatibile with earlier versions of Acrobat.

I am having the same problem. I downloaded hundreds of patents from a website only to find that my boss couldn't open them. However, I can. I have Acrobat 8.0 but she has the most updated Adobe Reader, shouldn't she be able to open them too? Also, I am not able to delete the file from my system. When I right click the file name I get the selections: Open with Acrobat 8.0 (which it doesn't), print, scan using spybot search & destroy and open with (which it doesn't). Any ideas?
