Redacting Issue

I've recently come across a problem with the redaction feature with Adobe Acrobat and I wanted to see if anyone here knew of a solution. A user of mine wanted to redact some information in a scanned document (scanned using a Xeros Workcentre 5665 copier, if that is relevant). The document does have OCR applied, as well.

When he first marks it for redaction, it's fine. But the next portion he tries to redact, it puts in what - for lack of a better term - I'm calling echoes of the marks, in all sorts of peculiar areas all over the page.

I uninstalled and reinstalled his Acrobat (9.2.0 Professional), but the problem remained. After some research on both our parts, we determined that the problem related specifically to tables. All the items he was trying to redact were in this table. I was able to duplicate the problem with a different document that had a table in it myself.

So I was wondering if this is a problem with Acrobat, or specifically with our versions of it. Or would anyone have any solutions to the problem?

Hi,
Rather than an application issue, it is most likely an issue associated with the OCR of the table's content.
At times, text image bounded within table cells can be something of a speed hump for OCR.

Do a trial run of the below to see if it helps -
Use "Examine Document"
(note to readers: Acrobat 8 or 9 - Pro versions for sure, don't know if Standard versions have this).
Remove "Hidden Text" (which includes the OCR layer).
Then try what Rick Borstein describes at -
