I have a scanned document that is 16 MB (already a pdf). I need to have the file size reduced as much as possible. I only got a few kb reduced by using the PDF Optimizer. Any other suggestions?

Is it a Black & White or color scan? What settings did you use in Optimizer? What PDF version did you choose for compatibility?more information is required...

I tried the reduce file size command in Acrobat 9 on a 44kb pdf. The results were unsatisfactory. The file size did not decrease. If anything it stayed the same. Does this command work? If not any suggestions?

I am serious about reducing the file size of pdf documents that range from 5-16MB.

There are many questions on the net about this and I have tried pretty much everyone's idea of file reduction.

There are issues with the images flattening and transparency space, large % of document overhead and content streams.

The files are full color booklets of images and type. Short of changing each page to a jpg and resetting them in InDesign to save out again ---- anybody have suggestions?

Thanks, I appreciate amy attention to this sticky problem.
