Save or Open Dialog Box

I am using Acrobat Standard 8.0. I download a lot of PDF files from the internet and would like to configure it NOT to open automatically when downloading a PDF file. I would prefer to have the "save or open" dialog box pop up giving me the option to save the file to my hard drive. I have already tried the "confirm open after download" check box which does not seem to work with any Acrobat version after 6.

You can change the behaviour by deselecting 'Display in Web Browser' within Acrobat's preferences / Internet /
Hope this helps,

Jon

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

The "Display in Web Browser" option does not really solve the problem. The application still opens either way. I only want the "save or open" box. I know I can right click and choose "save target as" but this is not always possible.

I'm running into the same problem after a fresh XP install with Acrobat 7.

I've unchecked the "Display PDF in Browser" box in Acrobat's preferences.
I've checked the "Confirm open after download" in the File Types part of Folder Options.
I've disabled the browser helper object in Internet Explorer.

Has anybody found a solution to this?

I think I've got it:

Disable automatic opening of PDF documents in Microsoft Internet Explorer
To disable automatic opening of PDF files in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE), a second step is required. To configure IE to prompt before opening a PDF file, disable the "Display PDF in browser" feature (as described above) and then make the following changes to the Windows registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7]
"EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00
