When saving pdf documents under Acrobat 9 or Acrobat X that have custom fonts (references, not embedded) it is taking several minutes and our users are complaining. Under Acrobat 8 it appears the behavior is to only save the font (most appropriate font substitution) for the portion of the document being updated. Acrobat 9 and X seem to update the entire document (several 100 pages), going through it and replacing the font. I am looking to ease the pain for the users allowing for a save that takes much less time as was the case with Acrobat 8. Are there any settings or thoughts on how to best handle this situation? I'm not sure how feasible it is to batch embed the fonts or references to non-custom fonts. Thanks
