Saving as Word Document - everything in text boxes?

Whenever I convert a pdf to a word document all of the text comes in as several text boxes. When I do the same thing using Acrobat 7 Pro it is fine.
 
Is there a default setting in Acrobat 8 Pro that is making this happen?
 
How can I turn it off?

There's no defualt setting that would affect the exporting of PDF files to Word docs. You might want to wait for a maintenance upgrade and see if that takes care of the problem. In the meantime, you might try exporting to RTF or copy/paste text.
