Scanning cancel error - HP6100 Printer

I get Scanning cancel error with Acrobat X Pro and HP C6100 Series All-in-one printer. Lost two days trying to fix it. Hope you can help.
 
I've included all my system info below.
 
-Uninstalled and reinstalled all HP software as well as Acrobat X software. (downloaded latest driver from HP)
-Turned of and unpluged printer
-Tried dozens of configuration options
-Only 1 version of Acrobat installed - 10.0.3

Have you tried selecting "Custom Scan" command from Acrobat X? When the window pops up, choose the "Options" button and select "Native Mode" and "Show Scanner's Native Interface".

I've resorted to using my Apple and Image Capture.

But I'll try your suggestion.
