There are several small portable scanners available on the marked that can handle up to letter/A4 size format. Is it possible to multi- scan larger format such as 11” x 17”/A3 into Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and then glue/stitching these together to form format like 11” x 17” or A3?

Anything is possible, but Mustek makes a portable A3 USB scanner that scans 11x17 and A3 and sells for $150. It is not Vista compatable and is USB1, but I have recommended this numerous times. ( I have not tried it on Acrobat 8, because my 8 machine is Vista). I own two and have probably done 100,000 scans. It is great for a book, you get both pages at once. You can copy the thumbnail (hold control and drag) of a page, then crop each to have single pages.

Tom is a Professional Engineer and an ACE on 5 versions of Acrobat. He works extensively in AEC, government and education.
