Search function in Reader 9

I have encountered problems using the 'search' function in Adobe 9 Reader. Some pdf documents I've received allow me to use the 'search' function, but others do not - Adobe Reader flags up that the word/s can't be found, although they are in the document. I've looked at Adobe Writer but I can't see anything that would allow the writer to disable the Search function when creating a pdf document. ??

My Product Information:
Reader 9.1, Macintosh

Are some the the PDFs images without OCR or images with OCR?
Without OCR there is nothing for Find/Search to "see".
With OCR, well OCR can often be less than 100% and some characters/words will not be present in the OCR layer of hidden text.
Or the OCR character (a "best-estimate") may not match what is in the image.

Thanks, I'll go back and look at the non-searchable pdfs.

i am using pdf search from C#.net code. i have url like .../file.pdf#search="xella ytong heble autoclaved aerated aercon aac acco accoa trustone ecrete e crete". but it is not hightlighting that words which i am looking for. it is higglighting only the "e". it is not able highlight all the words that are given in the search.

This document may be helpful. It describes how to specfy parameters in a URL (such as highlight), identifies the limitations and required syntax.
