Search for metadata or keywords

I have a large number of tif files scanned from micro film. A lot of effort has gone into keywording, and adding metadata to these files.

I would like to combine sub sets of these into a pdf file. The problem I am having is that I can't find a way to search the metadata attached to these files. I have tried acrobat 8 pro and windows explorer.

Am I missing something or is metadata lost or not searchable once it is an object in a pdf document?

First, I would check to see if the metadata was converted by checking the Document Properties (Ctrl + d). The Description tab should have detailed metadata information (additional metadata can also be imported using the Advanced button on this panel). Next, using the Search command in Acrobat for searching multiple PDFs or PDF indexes, you'll get the option to search metadata on PDF.

Thank you for your help. The meta data did not transfer from the individual tif files to the files (I think you call them objects) in the pdf file. Is there a way I can include the meta data in the multi file pdf?
