Search PDX index on web

I created a Powerpoint file management system using Acrobat. Basically I converted all our Powerpoint files to PDF's and created an index of all of them using Catalog feature.

I have an HTML front-end with a link to the PDX index file that people have access to. From mouse click in HTML front-end, search function opens in Reader, user types in keyword, PDF files show up in search window and user then goes directly to specific presentation they need (still as a PDF file). Once user finds exact slide they are looking for, there is a link button on each PDF page that takes them directly to Powerpoint file where slide is located. To date, this has been done on shared drive within department, but now mgmt wants to put up on company intranet and also want to test out on web as well.

Once I copy all directories over to web server, (in the exact same structure as on our shared drive) I get following error message when I click button that is linked to index (PDX) file.

"%PDX-3.2

>
endobj
2 0 obj

endobj
3 0 obj

endobj

4 0 obj
[(.)]
endobj

Any thoughts? THX

Interesting question. Certainly, the Acrobat 8 Help file implies that you can move an Acrobat Catalog generated index to a website.

However, the reality is that it doesn't work. Acrobat Catalog indexes have only ever worked in local, shared-drive and disc-based environments. Unless I'm gravely mistaken, that fact didn't change with Acrobat 8.
