Select Object Tool in Acorbat 8 Standard no Bounding Box

I cannot get the select object tool to work in Acrobat 8.1.1 Standard with PDFs created from Office 2007 or even earlier versions of Office. The OS is Vista. I print my PowerPoint presentation in PDF and often need to move the text or objects on a page just a little. In Acrobat 5 I had no problems. I get no bounding box as help says I should get. I only get a dotted box as I drag which disappears as soon as I release the mouse. Thanks for your help

In Acrobat 8 there are two toolbar buttons to touch up PDFs -- the Touch Up Text tool and the Touch Up Graphics tool. The Touch Up Graphics tool (page graphic with pencil icon) should let you select the images and move them.
