text box text properties tool bar

When I have more than one PDF file open and insert a text box, or have an existing text box, and try to edit either, the text properties tool bar turns off in that PDF and opens in the other PDF such that the font properties of the text box in the current PDF cannot be edited. If switch to second PDF where text property toolbar is showing, then click on text box to edit, tool bar turns off in that document and opens in other document. No method to turn tool bar back on/open. Any way to fix? Adobe Standard 9.4, Windows XP.

Biochette,

Are you using Ctrl E to bring up the properties toolbar? Have you tried docking the toolbar with your other tools at the top of the screen so it is always available, then quitting & re-launching Acrobat? I haven't seen this issue.

The text properties tool bar will not show in the top toolbar area until the text in a text box is selected. If PDF document #1 is created and a text box is inserted the text properties tool bar will automatically appear at the top toolbar area of Acrobat. If a second PDF document is created and PDF document #1 is left open, then a text box is created in PDF document #2, then the text properties tool bar will not show up in PDF doc #2, instead it is highlighted in PDF doc #1 - weird. There are other posts on this occurence but no solutions.

Ctrl+E will not reopen the text properties tool bar in the PDF doc in which the text box is desired to be edited unless the second PDF doc is closed. Other posts talk about the fact that the tool bar for text box font editing cannot be 'locked' on, just the text box tool. I don't know what docking means but perhaps this is what others refer to - that the text properties tool bar cannot be forced on; maybe this means docked?? Other posts say something about it not being able to be kept on because of the need to switch between it and the typewriter font editor. I don't use the typewrite so can't address this.
