Is there any way to disable the navigation pane on a document?

Hello!

Is there any way to disable the navigation pane (the pane with the "bookmarks," "signatures," etc tabs) so that someone viewing the pdf wouldn't see it? Or publish a version of a pdf in which that pane is not accessible? I'm using Acrobat Professional 7.0.

I know that if I pull the pane handle (the thing in the middle with the dots on it) all the way to the left-hand side of the window, it will hide the pane, and that's a start. But someone viewing the document could still open it it up and see all those tabs, and my client has requested that they "go away."

Thanks in advance,

Well, I'm using Acrobat Professional 8, but I think it was the same way in 7.

Choose "file" in the top left corner when your document is open.
Then, choose "properties"

Then, look at "initial view" and choose "page only" and that should make pane go away. But it doesn't really go away, the viewer, if they are sophisticated, can make it reappear. But if you have no data for bookmarks or comments, it shouldn't matter. They won't see the pane when they first open the file.

Hope this helps!!

Acrobat is probably the program I use most often and I'm learning more every day.
