We have a great many pdf's. These were scanned into the system as .tiff files, and using several
programs, PaperPort, etc, they were converted to pdf.
My question, is there any way to convert these to an editable page? Correcting spelling, etc?
Using Version 9 Pro Extended.
My best guess, is I'm out of luck.
Perform ClearScan OCR on the PDFs containing the scanned image(s).
If already provided with hidden text from Searchable Image or Searchable Image (Exact) use Examine Document to identify this and have Examine document remove the hidden text.
Once ClearScan has been done you can review the output to locate where edits to the text may be desired.

Nothing particular difficult involved; however, it is a time consuming plug'n chug endeavor.
n.b., Why 'standards' compliant PDF is an issue - all too often non-Adobe PDF producers don't quite go the distance.
Adobe Reader / Acrobat presume a PDF is compliant with ISO 32000-1 (PDF Standard) or compliant with the Acrobat Reference documents that came before the ISO Standard.
If you have somewhat 'off' PDFs you may experience the alert:
