Hi TMILLETT,

I think you are running into an issue related to Acrobat 8 changing to SDI (Single Document Interface) from MDI (Multiple Document Interface). Previous versions were MDI. What SDI in Acrobat 8 means is that each document opens in its own application window, and changes made to the toolbar setup with a document OPEN will be in effect for that document only, not any future documents you open.

To get the toolbar setup you want available each time you open Acrobat, you must set up the toolbar configuration with NO documents open.

Keep in mind that any document you had open in the past where you made changes to your toolbar setup- those changes are now traveling with that document and that configuration is what you will see each time you open that document.

For Windows you can choose to change back to MDI in Preferences -> Documents and uncheck the option Show each document in its own window. You need to restart Acrobat after making that change. Mac users don't have a choice- it's SDI only.Hope that helps,

Dimitri
