If you cannot dock toolbars, is there a way to keep them from automatically opening when starting Acrobat? I would like to be able to keep them from opening each time I open a document to edit.

F8 Will hide your tools, then try changing this setting:

Edit > Preferences > Documents > CHECK - Restore last view setting when reopening documents.

F8 hid the toolbars at the top already docked. I would like for the Properties, Typewriter, Comment, File, etc. tool bars which are floating on the screen to not appear when I open a file. I tried closing them and then checking the preference setting like you mentioned, but they still opened on the next file.
