I have a file that i have been working on and peiodically updating the text in with the touch up text tool, but it stopped working all of a sudden. I tried recognizing the text using OCR, but it returned the error "Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because: This page contains renderable text." any ideas on how to restore the ability to edit text?

Thanks!

Open the Content Navigation pane (View --> Navigation Panels --> Content) while in the file that you're having difficulty with. Select the content you're having difficulty with via this pane and then try selecting the Touch Up tool to edit your text.

TouchUp cannot edit all PDF-files.

Some files can be edited with no problems, some - not.
Some files I am working with, containing forms, used to be edited with no problem. Suddenly TouchUp stopped editing them.

Ikassuba, I followed your instructions given 2008-07-30 16:00:31
Opened the Content Navigation pane (View --> Navigation Panels --> Content) while in the file that I was having difficulty with. There were several containers with text contents. I selected the container with the text content via this pane and then, selecting the Touch Up tool, successfully edited my text. But it was only once.Next time, in the same file, when I opened Content Navigation pane (View --> Navigation Panels --> Content), instead of containers, I found XObjects with the same text contents. I did everything as before, but couldn't edit.I tried multiple times with no success.

Please help.

Thanks!

Are the forms you are editing created in Acrobat or LiveCycle? If they were created in LiveCycle then you will not be able to edit them.

I really don't know.
But why I could edit it a few times and then - not?
If you would like, I can email you an example.
Thanks.

I figured out what was wrong... i had the Adobe Reader usage rights enabled which was preventing me from editing the text with the touch up text tool... to remove them i just had to save a copy of the file, which removed the usage rights and allowed me to edit the text again.

I'm using Acrobat 6.0 Professional. I'm having a problem with Touchup Text tool similar to those already listed in this forum, but the recommended fixes don't cure my problem. Problem: The touchup text tool works fine on text on which it has never before been used. But if I try to touch up text that has previously been touched up, when I save the changes, Acrobat locks up (the Windows Task Manager shows Acrobat status as "not responding"). The only option is to click End Task to exit Acrobat. When Acrobat is restarted, the changes made with Touchup Text are gone. Thanks for any solution you may offer.
